About This Site
A simple, dependable Hijri date converter, and nothing you do not need.
Why this site exists
Converting an Islamic date should take a few seconds. We built this site so anyone can turn a Hijri date into a Gregorian one, or the other way round, without signing up, installing an app or working through a cluttered page.
The site is available in English, Urdu and Arabic, because those are the languages in which most people go looking for Hijri dates.
How the dates are calculated
All conversions follow the Umm al-Qura calendar, the official calendar of Saudi Arabia, with the tabular Islamic calendar used for years outside its range. The calculation runs on your own device, and the dates you enter are not sent to us.
We test the converter against published Umm al-Qura dates and check that every date converts back to itself across several centuries.
What to keep in mind
A calculated calendar cannot tell you when the crescent will actually be seen in your town. For acts of worship that depend on the start of a month, follow your local moon-sighting authority. The moon-sighting adjustment in the converter lets you line the result up with your local calendar.
If you find a date you believe is wrong, please tell us through the contact page. Include the date you entered and the result you expected.
